Why Your Small Business Needs Social Media?
featured social media for business

In this era of social media overload, it might be hard to believe that getting your business live on social media will really make a difference.

No matter how successful your little shop is, theres no way of knowing if youll ever reach a million likes on Facebookfor smaller communities, theres no way of knowing if youll ever even reach a thousand.

However, as reported by Inc.com, likes arent your final goal. Facebook likes and favorites, retweets on Twitter, and followers on both are the means to an end, not your endgame goal.

Small businesses need social media for all the same reasons as large businesses do, but three- or four-fold. Building brand awareness, garnering and maintaining customer interest: these are things that every small business has to work at harder than ever to survive.

Building Interest

Social media helps spread reach and lets you make announcements easily, doubling your efforts in a few keystrokes to build customer interest and engagement.

It lets you talk to loyal customers who havent been in the store for a while and let everyone watching know what you have planned. Announce holiday sales, make sure everyone knows your special winter business hours, and use every post to tell your customers and followers something new.

Whether youre announcing the hookup of that new credit card processing terminal by Shopifyand if you didnt accept credit cards for payment before, you definitely want to announce thisor the fact that the store will be closed on Memorial Day so you and your staff can participate in a volunteer effort, everything you post makes your business that much more interesting.

The reason people shop at small businesses is because they love supporting people like you and dreams like yours, they love knowing that the person in the big chair is a friend of the family or the community, and this makes social media even more important for you than for a big box retailer.

Use it to remind everyone that, no matter how successful you become, youre still a normal person with your own traditions, goals and challenges.

This doesnt mean using your store Facebook the same way youd use your personal account, but small businesses have the benefit of being able to present a more candid, sincere image than larger companies can, even in the same industry.

Take advantage of it and keep people coming back to see what youve got in store today.

Maintain Relationships

Another great aspect of social media is the ability to maintain professional relationships with relative ease. As stated by the Guardian, using social media properly gives you a powerful, cost-effective venue with which to engage with a veritable panacea of interested parties, from customers to other small businesses.

Having an active social media account gives customers a way to contact you 24/7, from almost anywhere in the world.

Whether theyre traveling abroad and want to ask about whether or not the leather bookbag they bought last month is waterproof or live right down the street and just want to say how much they love their new dress, they can use social media to do it.

Offering B2B support is also easier than ever with social media. Just liking the page or status of another small business you support creates the opportunity for your customers to interact with them, and theirs with you.

It also allows easy communication and interaction between businesses, public declarations of event support through the sharing and reposting of another businesss posts and tweets, and an easy way to advertise for each other. In small business, B2B relationships are an absolute must, so dont pass up this opportunity just because Facebook might not be your thing.

Dont Slow Down

There are plenty of other doors that maintaining an active social media presence can open for small businesses.

Unique marketing opportunities such as offering coupons in exchange for likes and public recognition for customer achievements related to your industry help build and maintain those relationships that you need to keep your business afloat.

Remember, though, that social media isnt limited to Facebook and Twitter. Depending on your industry, setting up a Pinterest may be a necessity, allowing customers to check in on FourSquare may be the best way to get online interaction started, and signing up for Tumblr may be the best way to communicate with your target demographic.

And dont forget your own business blog! BlogTyrant states that, regardless of what else rolls around, this is still your most important social media tool.

When it comes to social media, the skys the limitand theres a platform for every industry and every business. You dont have to sign up for all of them, of course, but figuring out which ones will work best for you and your business is key to getting the kind of online exposure that you want and your business deserves.

GIVEAWAY: BloggingeHow's Site-Wide Email Subscription Section (Feedburner + Aweber Version)
bloggingehow giveaway email subscription widget

It's been quite a while we have done any giveaway here on BloggingeHow. Lately I've got pretty positive feedback on the featured post section that I used previously that is a site wide section meant to increase your email capture rate at your blog.

If you're currently not using any form of a featured section above fold to promote your email newsletter, you're loosing out a lot of money on the table.

Why Featured Section Is Must?

See, you'd by now already know how crucial it is to capture emails on your blog/website. The post 6 Reasons to Get Started With Aweber - You'd Be Foolish Otherwise goes into detail as to why you need to start capturing emails if you're not already in some form.

So we have a consensus here that you MUST turn your blog visitors into subscribers and most importantly 'email subscribers' as you can maintain a long term relation with them and provide them value effectively.

There have been tons of email subscription widgets I switched at BloggingeHow, and if you're a regular reader, you'd notice the changes that take place. Testing is a key with what ever widget that you implement, so I would switch to another one if I realize it's not serving the purpose.

You can checkout the posts: The History of Templates for BloggingeHow (From Ugly to Being Proud) where you can notice the changes that took place in the templates and widgets.

Giveaway: Tested Featured Post Section of BloggingeHow.

The featured section you see below is great for few reasons:

1- Stunning design

The design is so perfect and professional that it would give your blog an aesthetic boost overall too.

2- Features Image of your ethical bribe.

That is any eBook cover, a course art, or it can be anything that you're giving away for free to encourage the visitors to subscribe.

3- Headline and Features section

You can add detailed features list and headline to your featured section as per your blog's niche.

4- Advanced 'Ask For It' strategy implemented.

This is that the widget hides the email subscription fields from the visitor as many would simply get turned down by have a feel that you're on a 'taking' side as oppose to the giving end.

So it incorporates a button that asks the user to click it to the download the free ethical bribe. Once the person would click the button, subscription fields would then fade out with some professional CSS implemented.

4 Purchases That Will Instantly Transform your Business

4 Purchases That Will Instantly Transform your Business

Sometimes, the business-oriented tech industry can seem like those egg-shaped Russian dolls. A crop of businesses have emerged and profited from selling technology for business applications, and from there, other businesses have started producing technology to support their technology.

Of course, this is good for the economy as a whole, diversifying investments and industrial sectors, but it can lead to confusion for business owners, particularly in smaller companies.

With so many products, how do you choose the appropriate products? How do you balance budget and functional requirements?

This swarm of new products and services is a boon in disguise, however, because it offers a world of variety for you and your business niche. Here are four key places to begin if youre looking to shake things up.

Practical Apps

On release, the iPad may have been considered a gadget more suited to sports recaps and colorful games than white-collar applications.

With a fresh supply of apps intended solely for businesses or retail application, as well as an ever-expanding list of hardware for the platform, its hard to deny that the iPad is making waves beyond the casual market.

Apples own business apps, including the much-praised Keynote, are perfect for board meetings and presentations. You dont have to worry about fussing with projectors, laptops, or flash drives anymore.

With an iPad and Keynote installed, your presentation is primed for viewing.

Similarly, the Numbers app has been designed to simplify anything from employee records to earnings charts. Instead of searching out complicated third-party support services, opt for a platform shift and a handful of apps, which will give you full sovereignty over your business.

A New Breed of Printer

For a long while, dot matrix and laser printers held dominion over the business sector. Nobody could deny that a fine-tuned machine with a fresh cartridge could crank out endless pages of black text, and do it efficiently.

The problem, however, is that not everybody needs endless pages of that sort. If your business makes frequent use of graphics, labels, or barcodes, theres no sense in staying with these older models.

The lack of high-quality detail is generally enough to prompt a change, but the other catalyst is something youve probably begrudgingly accepted: the cost of ink.

The latest and greatest trend in printing is the thermal printing model, which uses precise heat application to make its mark on special paper. Unlike dot matrix or laser printing, thermal printing does not have nearly as many moving parts, and it doesnt rely on ink or toner. Companies such as Shopify have manufactured printers specifically designed for receipt printing or barcode printing, and these are among the best picks if youre heavily involved in producing shipping labels or operating in retail, where receipts seem to flow in the thousands.

Proper Networking

Staying in contact with coworkers can be hard enough when youre just using Skype calls, but it becomes even harder if your business doesnt have a cutting-edge network.

In todays business world, where telecommuting has become almost as common as heading to the office, a good remote-access program can make all the difference in work output.

A variety of companies, such as LogMeIn and GotoMyPC, have manufactured software designed to allow your employees (or you) to work from nearly any location.

Some of these products carry a one-time fee, while others are paid per month. In addition, they often have specifications regarding how many machines you can host on the program.

Keep this in mind while choosing, and try to select something that has the features you truly need.

You might also want to reconfigure your Wi-Fi network, opting for more encryption settings or trying to increase your networks bandwidth.

Up in the Clouds

One of the most prominent technologies in modern business is cloud-computing, which hosts all of your data on a centralized cloud that any user can access, provided they have the proper authorization.

This sort of system ties into remote-access, but is not entirely similar. Cloud servers such as Google Drive can often be accessed from a wide range of devices, enabling you to work on projects from your phone, tablet, or laptop.

In addition, they prevent you from losing your work, should the platform crash while in use.

When selecting a cloud service, seek out companies that offer the amount of storage youll need for your projects. Image-based operations will generally require more space than their text-file counterparts.

There are a million branching (or egg-shaped) options for your needs, and sorting through them can seem almost as taxing as running your business.

Regardless of your goals or price limitations, however, there are always some classic areas to start. Focus on the function over form, looking into the future, and establishing stability in your operations. With those essential elements satisfied, you can continue into your next tier of upgrades.

How To Redirect & Track Facebook Fan Page Tab To Blog?
redirect facebookt tabs to blogs

As being Bloggers and webmasters, we keep on implementing new strategies to drive as much traffic as possible towards are blog. May that be via search engines or from our social media campaigns.

This time around, we'll take a lot at simple and easy to follow steps that you can make use of to Drive your Facebook fan page traffic that clicks on the tabs you'll set, towards your blog.

This means, that any person that clicks your fan page tabs, they'll be redirected towards a landing page you'll set on your blog, instead of adding something to that tab and not utilizing the fans to directly land on your blog.

How I Have Utilized This On BloggingeHow?

Previously if you would notice, on BloggingeHow's fan page, I had setup a tab that said "1000$ a Month". This was supposed to be the landing page which I setup as Facebook tab.

So each time when a fan clicked that tab, he was taken to a landing page with in Facebook.

Why you need to redirect the fan instead of creating landing page with in Facebook?

1- That won't really matter until you the visitor to better engage with your blog or squeeze page. I realized that our squeeze on the blog would open more opportunities to convert the visitor instead of letting him stay with in Facebook environment.

2- There are tons of distractions on Facebook and the conversions could be fairly less on Facebook instead of a stand alone squeeze page.

How To Redirect Facebook Fan Page Tab To Your Blog In 5 Quick Clicks?

We'll be using a third party tool for this called 'woobox' which is fairly popular for Facebook tabs. Previously I used another third party tool, but after getting my hands on this one, I can't get over how easy it is with woobox to setup a redirection tab or other sort of custom tabs.

These folks have made it just too simple.

Step #1 Go to Woobox.com (don't worry page will open in new tab.)

Step #2 Click 'Get Started for Free' on the top right

Step #3 Click "Create new tab" at top right corner.

Step #4 Click "HTML fan gate" option from drop down.

Step #5 Click "Redirect". Now this is where you'll be adding your landing page URL (in BloggingeHow's case, I added the squeeze page's URL, that is the download page for the eBook "6 Month to a 1000$ Blog.")

There are 3 things we'll setup here:

1- Your Tab Redirect URL towards your blog
2- Tab Name.
3- Tab Thumbnail image (which needs to be 111x74 px)

The more clear the call to action would be in the Thumbnail, the more clicks you'll be getting on your tab and thus the more traffic towards your blog. So invest some time creating a great looking Thumbnail.

You can add mouse click arts on it too as I did with BloggingeHow, which motivates the user to click.

Finally once you've uploaded the thumbnail and choose your Facebook tab title, hit 'save settings'. That's all! Your new tab is already live with everything setup for you!

How to Adjust / Drag Position Of Facebook Tabs?

You just need to review it's position in Facebook which can be done as below.

facebook manage tabs bloggingehow

Once you hit 'manage tabs' you'll be displayed a popup where you can drag the tabs to adjust their placement on the Facebook fan page.

Hope that helped guys. The best part is, you can track all the clicks via your woobox powered Facebook tabs towards your landing page.

How to Track Clicks on Your Facebook Tab?

Once you're in 'static tab menu option' in your woobox dashboard, you can hit the stat button right on a specific tab you want to track as shown in the picture below.

Once your tab would start getting clicks, you'll notice the stats graph being populated. Give it some time to collect data.

Hope that was helpful brothers. I really look forward to how you'll be utilizing it for your brand and convert your Facebook fans into long term customers.

Till next time
